Nova is a food and habit app. This page says exactly what it collects, where each thing goes, and what it never does. No lawyer language.
When you sign in with Apple or Google, Nova receives your name, your email address, and an account ID. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real email, and Nova works fine if you do. This is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. It exists only so your data belongs to you and follows you to a new phone.
The foods Nova identifies on each plate, their categories, the score, and the time you ate. These are backed up to a private document that only your account can read.
Your weight and body water percentage over time, plus your goal, height, age and sex if you choose to enter them.
Language, units, and your preferences.
Meal photos are not included in the cloud backup. They live on your device. The one exception is the moment of analysis: to read a plate, Nova sends that single photo to Anthropic's Claude API, which identifies the foods and sends back the result. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
What data is sent. Only the meal you choose to log: the photo you take of a plate, or the text you type to describe a meal or to ask the in-app coach a question. Nothing else leaves your phone for this purpose — not your weight or body data, not Apple Health or Oura data, not your location, not your name or email.
How it is collected. Only by your own deliberate action, at the moment you take a photo, type a meal, or send a question. Nova does not collect this in the background, and never sends an image from your camera roll that you did not pick.
Who it is sent to. Anthropic, PBC, the maker of Claude. The request is relayed through Nova's own server so no credentials are stored in the app. Anthropic is the only third-party AI service Nova uses.
Every use of that data. Solely to identify the food on the plate, estimate how it digests, and answer the question you asked — then return that result to you. There is no other use. It is not used for advertising or profiling, it is not sold, and it is not used to train Anthropic's models.
Your permission comes first. Nova asks you to agree to this on a dedicated screen in the app before anything is ever sent to Anthropic. If you decline, nothing is sent.
Equal protection by the third party. Anthropic processes this data as Nova's service provider under contractual terms requiring confidentiality and protections equal to those described in this policy, and API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models.
That is the whole list. Nova does not sell your data. Nova has no advertising and no trackers. Nova does not share your health information with data brokers, insurers, or anyone else.
Open Settings and use Delete all data. This removes your meals, body readings and settings from Nova's servers and clears them from this device.
Nova is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 13.
